What is the Energy and Environment Professionals Group?
The Energy and Environment Professionals Group addresses energy and environmental regulations and legislation on the state and federal level. The Group is made up of ABA Member companies’ regulatory, operations, and sustainability professionals, who work together to ensure their company and industry at large is compliant with the environmental laws and regulations.
What are some decisions this Group makes?
The Energy and Environment Professionals Group discusses pressing topics related to sustainability, air, water waste, energy costs, and energy management systems. The group is focused on discussions with EPA’s Region 5 and what is the correct emissions portfolio for purposes of permitting a bakery as the Region has made inquiries into proof boxes. More recently, this group has expressed an interest in looking more closely at sustainable packaging issues.

The Energy and Environment Professionals Group helps you and your company stay up to date on the latest regulations and legislation. Through the Group, ABA brings you expert advice to make sure you have the tools necessary to stay in compliance with the constantly changing regulatory environment. Last year, more than 40% of the companies awarded ENERGY STAR Certification for 2018 were baking companies. ABA hosted a webinar earlier this year for members to learn about the program directly from EPA staff.
Why is it sometimes called EEC?
ABA’s Professionals Groups were formerly known as Committees; therefore, the Group was called the Energy and Environment Committee or EEC. The shift to Professional Groups more accurately reflects the purpose and vision of the Group.
