WHY IS IT AN ISSUE?

Almost 800,000 bakery supply chain employees work tirelessly and safely making and delivering the baked goods that feed the world. ABA Member employees in bakery production, maintenance, sales, administration, and transportation need a strong advocate in both federal and state governments to protect their safety, wellbeing, and working conditions.

Protecting and celebrating the baking workforce

ABA’s labor and safety experts ensure Members understand the latest regulatory and legislative issues affecting the baking industry’s critical workforce. More importantly, ABA’s strategic and collaborative approach provides a direct line of communication with key influencers affecting workforce policy.

The success of the baking industry directly reflects the hard work and passion of skilled, dedicated employees supplying ingredients and equipment, and baking the products which feed our country and the world.

A focus on employee well-being

The annual ABA Safety Recognition Program, launched in 2016, honors ABA Member locations that have achieved a high level of safety performance as an ongoing effort to reduce work-related injuries and illnesses. The industry’s dedication to workers’ safety not only proves ABA Member companies’ focus on employees’ well-being but has also helped companies reduce costs associated with fewer injury claims.

Wholesale bakeries offer endless career opportunities to its workforce and ABA works to ensure those opportunities are not taken away by burdensome and unworkable policies and overbearing government mandates.
