WASHINGTON, DC - ABA has actively engaged over the past several weeks regarding the now averted freight rail union strike. Led by the ABA CAPC and Logistics Groups, ABA informed the White House, lawmakers on Capitol Hill, and national media about the devastating effects a strike would have on consumers, ABA Members, and food security.
The issue:
A tentative agreement has been made between the railroads and unions to avoid a strike. The agreement now will head to union members to vote on ratification. While the vote is being tallied, the workers have agreed not to strike. ABA will continue to monitor the situation and is hopeful that this is the final resolution.
