The Food Technical and Regulatory Issues Professionals Group Conference last week brought together regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and marketing professionals to discuss pressing regulatory issues affecting the baking industry. Participants engaged in meaningful sessions about food safety, Proposition 65, nutrition policy, intentional adulteration, the BE Disclosure Rule, and more.
Members heard from experts about best approaches to each issue and shared their concerns. “We’ve been striving to more actively engage our members during these sessions. They asked in-depth questions and were able to walk away with solutions and knowledge to bring back to their respective companies,” said Rasma Zvaners, Vice President, Regulatory & Technical Services at ABA.
A highlight of the Conference was the BE Summit on Day 2. Attendees heard from Trevor Findley, Deputy Director, Food Disclosure and Labeling, USDA Agricultural Marketing Service. Findley walked through various scenarios Bakers could experience and answered complex questions about the Disclosure Rule.
