The ABA Logistics Professionals group, a collection of all the transportation professionals in the baking industry, met to drive future policy decisions at the Logistics Conference in Chicago, IL from April 29-30.
These professionals handle the delivery of the products, manage the upkeep of the warehouses, and oversee workforce issues…and everything in between.
“Our meeting this week tackled capacity issues at a level our committee hasn’t been able to thus far,” said Jack Detiveaux, Manager of Government Relations & Public Affairs at ABA. “Through discussions on pay structuring, independent contractors, and innovative technologies, ABA’s charge to create effective policy and practice solutions in the logistics space has never been clearer.”
Addressing Critical Issues
A few of the discussions led by speakers from groups such as Uber Freight and the American Trucking Associations included finding creative ways to recruit and retain drivers.
“With a fantastic turnout from both our baker and allied members, we were able to hold substantial discussions on not only the issues we’ve faced for years, but also new and emerging challenges,” said Detiveaux.
